Hi - I just entered a bunch of new products and would like a snap-shot of my store inventory - retail, cost price, either works - please tell me this is a possibility…
Topic summary
A user seeks to generate an inventory value report showing retail and cost prices for newly added products.
Suggested Solutions:
- One response recommends the Mipler Advanced Reports app from the Shopify app store for customizable inventory reports
- Another suggests using Shopify’s native export feature: Products → Export → select fields including Inventory Quantity, Price, and Compare At Price, then remove unnecessary columns from the CSV
Significant Disagreement:
A long-time Shopify user (6 years) disputes the native export solution, claiming:
- The described export options don’t exist as stated
- Exported inventory lacks quantity data
- This remains an unresolved annual issue for year-end reporting
- Store owners shouldn’t need third-party apps for basic inventory reports with quantity, cost, and retail values
Status: The discussion remains unresolved with conflicting information about Shopify’s native reporting capabilities.
Hi there! Yes, it’s definitely possible to get a snapshot of your store inventory with retail and cost prices. I would recommend checking out the Mipler Advanced Reports app on the Shopify app store. It offers a wide range of customizable reports, including inventory reports with the information you’re looking for. Hope that helps!
Hi @IrinaRachow ,
Thanks so much for reaching out and sharing your question. You can export this data quick and free through your admin.
- Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
- Click on the “Products” tab on the left-hand menu.
- Click on the “Export” button on the top right of the page.
- Select the “All products” option, and choose the fields you want to include in the export file. This can include fields like retail price, cost price, and other product information.
- Click on the “Export products” button to generate a CSV file containing your store’s inventory data.
Among all other information, it will contain each variant Inventory Quantity, Price, and Compare At Price. You can simply remove all the unnecessary columns to make the sheet neat and easy to read. Then it could look as shown below.
This is INCORRECT. There are NO OPTIONS as described above. Furthermore, the exported inventory doesn’t even include QUANTITY! Why is it so difficult to pull 1 accurate report advising a store owner of a detailed active product inventory with quantity, value and retail value? This is ridiculous! Every end of year this is an issue! I’ve been with Shopify now for 6 years and it still hasn’t been resolved. As a Shopify customer, I input every single product that we sell. I should be able to pull a report without having to pay for a 3rd party app.
