How can I get a refund for an unwanted subscription?

Hello,

I opened my store using the free trial and just wanted to try build a website for fun. I didn´t wanted to use Shopify anymore and I was going to close my store before the subscription but Shopify automatically payed for the subscription one day earlier than it was shown. I really need the money because i am a student.

With this type of issue, the best bet is to get in touch with the Support team directly to discuss a refund.

Do you still have access to the store, or did you get to close it already? If you have not yet closed it, this would be the first step towards being eligible for a refund. To fully close the store, you must take the following steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Plan.

  2. Click Cancel subscription or Pause or deactivate store.

  3. If applicable, review the options to pause your subscription, or start a new store.

  4. If you still want to deactivate, then click Cancel subscription and close store or Deactivate store.

  5. Select a reason for the deactivation, and then click Continue.

  6. Enter your password, and then click Close store or Deactivate now.

You will now be able to get in touch with our support here and our team will look into a refund for you. If you are unable to access your store to close it beforehand, you can contact our support straight away and we will help you regain access to be able to close it and continue with the rest of the steps.
