I want to open an online store and used shopify to start until they told that I cannot accept payment for my products due to problems occurred on the Mastercard end of February.
I did payed my yearly bill $ 174 on Monday 13 December 2021, so if I can ask for a refund since i want to stop using shopify. How can I refund it since i just paid 5 days ago.
Hi, @AnthonyAbboud96 . Sorry to hear you’re wanting to close your store. Is the issue you are having with accepting payment for your products something to do with your supplier? Or is this an issue you’re encountering with your payment gateway?
However, if you do decide that you would like to move forward with closing your store, please follow the steps in this Help Doc to ensure it is closed properly. Then, we can look into if it is possible to refund your subscription charges.
As per the Terms of Service (Section 14.10), Shopify does not issue refunds. However, we would be happy to gather more information from you and escalate your request for a refund to our Billing department to see if there’s anything they can do to help.
We’ll need to access your account in order to do so. While we’re not able to provide account-specific support via the Shopify Community at this time, we’d be happy to continue assisting you through live chat, email, or callback. Please visit the Shopify Help Center and log in to your account to create a support request.
Since this is the next step, I’ve marked this reply as the solution for the benefit of others who may discover this topic. Thanks!
Hey Shopify team,
I around 30 days back created a Shopify account, and I didn’t work on it. Today I had received a message That I have been charged for my monthly basic plan. I just had forgotten to cancel the account. Please refund my money. I’m a student and I really need this money. I had already mail you and started a live chat too but had no response
Hey, @khadarjama . Sorry to hear you’ve decided not to continue with building your online business. Is there anything in particular you were struggling with that prompted you to cancel?
As I mentioned above, Shopify doesn’t issue refunds. However, we can consult with the Billing department to see if they’re able to make an exception here. In order to do so, please start by properly closing your store following the steps here. Then, since we’re unable to to help with account specific issues here in the Community right now, please try again to contact a Support Advisor through live chat, email or phone callback to look into the possibility of a refund. Thanks!
Hi Helen…we need your help , I am very concerned as a parent of my son only just turned 16 years old in Jan 2023 (glg2007@icloud.com) was able to set up a Shopify account, without checks based on a free trial with no charge until end of the trial period ? We were not aware of him setting up account and I note your terms saying you have to be 18 years old. He cancelled the account, then had £228 taken from his Under 18’s bank savings account on 6th Feb 2023 by Shopify. This is clearly an error and I am sure not Shopify’s intention or normal way of working/best practice. Therefore in these exceptional circumstances we request the money is returned in full as soon as possible . Thanks for your help
