How can I get Google to index my images stored on a CDN?

Hi,

As you all now, Shopify uses a CDN for images. Which means all of my images can be found at cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/3984/2421/9421/files/example_photo.png. However, this is an issue for me. I am having trouble making Google index my images. For example, my favicon is stored within the CDN but since Google can’t crawl it, my favicon is not displayed in Google Searches. The same goes for product images - i have zero images indexed, so that when i google site:https://myshop.com and go to images, nothing is displayed.

So how do I make my images appear in Google Searches, or rather how do I make Google index all of my photos? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have been waiting for weeks and my favicon is still not updated.

For anyone struggling with this:

Google take a long time to crawl your website. After around 3 weeks, it finally found the images and the favicon now appears in Google Searches. I believe what happened is since it had indexed over 100 of my pages, it started getting smarter and went looking for images. So now my images are appearing one after one. I recommend that you request indexing via Google Search Console and be patient, it takes some weeks for the images to be indexed.

Hello @kuberogkort ,

Good day! Gina from the flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $6Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot.

To enhance the indexing of your images by Google, you can take the following measures.

→ Ensure that you have successfully verified ownership of your website through Google Search Console. This verification grants you access to valuable insights regarding your website’s performance in Google search results.

→ Create a comprehensive sitemap that encompasses all the URLs of your images and submit it to Google Search Console. By providing a sitemap, you assist search engines in discovering and indexing your website’s content, including your images.

→ Optimize image metadata.

->Implement structured data markup.

→ Regularly check the Index Coverage report in Google Search Console to identify any potential issues related to indexing your images.

→ Encourage reputable websites to link to your website and image URLs. Backlinks from trustworthy sources can amplify your website’s visibility and significantly enhance the likelihood of your images being indexed.

I hope this information proves useful.
