How can I improve image resolution sitewide?

Topic summary

Main issue: The site owner reports blurry images on laptop view across the landing page and other areas showing initial product images, and asks how to increase image resolution sitewide.

Context shared: Images were uploaded at high quality (approx. 2K long edge, 300 dpi). The owner notes they look sharp off-site but lose clarity on the website.

Response received: A community member explains image sharpness largely depends on the source files and mentions HiDPI (High Dots Per Inch), which enables sharper images on high-resolution screens and is typically handled automatically by Shopify. They reviewed the landing page and did not observe significant blurriness.

Current status: Disagreement persists. The owner still perceives noticeable resolution loss on the live site despite high-resolution uploads, while the responder sees no issue.

Outcome: No concrete fix or settings change identified. The question remains open with unresolved cause and no confirmed action items.

Hi There,

I’m looking to increase the resolution of some image blocks sitewide. For example, when view on a laptop, the images on the landing page (simswear.com) look blurry and not so nice :(.

Thank you!

Billy

Hi @simswear ,

The resolution of some images depends on the quality of the images you choose to upload to the website. The HiDPI (High Dots Per Inch) feature allows for sharper images to be displayed on high-resolution screens. Shopify usually handles this automatically.

I took a look at your landing page and didn’t see any big problems because the images weren’t blurry.

Have a nice day sir!

Thanks so much for getting back to me! The files appear super sharp when viewing them on a screen - They’re 2k long edge with 300dpi so more than enough resolution. Though when viewing on the landing page (and in other areas where initial product images are displayed for that matter) they have definitely lost the resolution.
