How can I improve the search function in the CRAFT theme?

Hi!

I am busy setting up a new site using the CRAFT theme.

I have come across a problem. The search function does not pick up on any words.

I do not have products listed yet, only services as the products will be listed at a later stage.

How can I set up the search function to pick up on any words on the site?

Assistance with this will be much appreciated!

Hi, @MelissaPegasus . I’m happy to look into this with you! I just have a few questions to make sure I give you accurate advice going forward.

  • Are you referring to the search feature on your storefront that customers will use, or the search feature in your Shopify admin?
  • Can you tell me more about how you are adding services to your website and how they differ from the way you are listing products?
  • Which search terms are you using and what happens when you try to search? Is it showing no results or does it say something else?

I am having trouble with the store front search feature.

I am assuming it might be because no products have been listed yet, so I have no tags etc.

The products will be listed soon, but in the meantime I am only using the site to showcase services offered and thereafter products and POS will be added.

I would like to set up the search function to be able to search for keywords across the entire site and not just for specific products. Is this a possibility?

I have attached an image of what happens when I type in something into the search feature.

The online store search allows customers to search across all of your store’s products, blog posts, and pages. As long as your keywords can be found in those areas, you should get search results. That being said, products, blog posts, and pages need to have certain settings in place in order to be returned in search results. This guide can walk you through the settings needed to get this working. I’d also recommend reading over this guide on the storefront search feature as it goes over how the search works in much more detail.

Can you also tell me more about how you’re currently showcasing services? Did you create a page with information about the services you offer? The reason I ask is that typically services are added to storefronts the same way products are, with some slight changes.
