Hi,
My store is incensesticks.com. My site speed is quite slow, just 33 score as per Shopify Admin.
Based on related posts, I have already implemented below:
-
Optimized images
-
Removed unused apps & codes
There is a difference but still it is not as much as it should be.
Also, I have around 450 products on my website and 200 pages. Will these also affect the speed?
Additionally, I am using the paid Prestige theme which is considered to be the most optimized theme for Shopify.
Can anyone provide any solution for this?
Thanks,
Diana
Hello @diananh ,
I need some more details to assist you. Can you please send the link to your store so I can provide the most relevant solution for your case?
In general, optimizing website speed often involves coding expertise. If you’re not a technically aware person yourself, consider hiring a reliable Shopify development company to handle this for you.
It is worth mentioning that before making any changes to your website, it’s crucial to conduct a proper website speed diagnosis. Take time to identify the main factors affecting load speed, and focus on the high-impact factors first.
You can use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse, GTmetrix, or WebPageTest to get a comprehensive overview of your website’s speed and receive recommendations on areas for improvement.
You can try the following tips to optimize your store speed and performance:
- choose a responsive theme
- use Lazy Load
- find an alternative to the homepage hero slider
- reduce the number of HTTP requests
- enhance mobile performance with AMP
- minimize redirects and eliminate broken links
- upgrade your Shopify plan
Let me know if you need any assistance.
Best regards,
Anastasia
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Upon checking on Google PageSpeed Insights, the data is above average. Still the site becomes too slow at times.
My store is https://incensesticks.com/
Also, we have already done below things:
- choose a responsive theme - using Prestige
- use Lazy Load - using for all images
- find an alternative to the homepage hero slider - using native slider and all are webp images, what can be done?
- reduce the number of HTTP requests - can you elaborate plz
- enhance mobile performance with AMP - on mobile the site seems to be loading pretty fast as compared to desktop
- minimize redirects and eliminate broken links - Currently we mainly have product redirections and in blogs, can it affect?
- upgrade your Shopify plan - using Basic plan, what is the benefit?
In addition to above, I wanted to know if having more that 400 plus products can affect our website?
Hello @diananh ,
Ready themes can be far away from perfect optimization as they can have many features that create extra loading EVEN when not in use. Also, there can be situations when a particular TYPE of page is slow. Let’s say home and product detail page are fast, when collection page is slow. If there is a situation like this - it also provides insights regarding how to improve the situation.
As an example I’ve tried checking https://incensesticks.com/collections/special-incense/products/spceial-incense-jasmine-incense-sticks - and it took so long as per webpagetest results. The key reason I see in 3rd party extensions, as well as a single 404 script from example.com domain. My team has huge experience in speed optimization, there are a lot of non-trivial aspects to pay attention to in order to optimize the speed.
Please, get in touch if you need an assistance.
Best regards,
Anastasia
