How can I include images in my dropdown menu?

I’m trying out Erus and Flow themes and it seems they’re compatible with this type of layout as you can see in this example:

But there just doesn’t seem to be a way to add images to main menu categories in the theme editor. All the editable parameters are exactly the same as the free themes. I’ve already assigned images to each collection and you would assume they’d automatically show up but they dont. Is there something more you have to do?
