How can I insert Statcounter code in the Dawn theme?

Statcounter says to put their code in a text box in the footer. I’m using Dawn theme and I cannot paste text and anything I type shows on the website. It does not support code. So where can I put this code?

@gators - where exactly do you want this counter? you can add it in footer before and it will show up at very end after footer
