Hello everyone,
First time post here so please bear with me. I’m looking for some help or advice to find out if what my client is asking for is actually possible.
The client came to us with an existing Shopify website selling wine and beer online, and they have asked to have a premium members subscription added to the site where for an annual cost, the customer will get certain perks and benefits. The main ones being:
-
10% discount across all products in store
-
Free shipping at checkout
-
Access to ‘members only’ pages with exclusive content
-
Access to ‘members only’ collections
Since initially looking at this, we’ve found ourselves looking at the Bold Memberships app, which seemed to handle most of what we listed above, with the exception of one or two things which turned out to require another app from Bold called ‘Custom Pricing’.
The issue I have with this, is that this membership integration is very much ‘separate’ to the rest of the site, and doesn’t feel integrated at all like I would expect for big ecommerce sites. For example, there is a separate registration form for standard members, and premium members now. If a non-logged in visitor goes to make a purchase, I would expect there to be an upsell product to add during checkout that would process the membership, but there isn’t. The only way to take advantage of the benefits, are to become a member first, and then go through the purchase.
The only way I’ve been able to get the free shipping applicable to premium members is by having to create a coupon code, and applying this to those customers. This requires the customer to have to remember to enter the code at checkout, which is not ideal.
It’s not very user friendly at all, and in fear of starting to disappoint the client, I have tried looking for alternative solutions that would give me the more ‘seamless’ experience I’m looking for, I haven’t been able to find anything remotely close.
I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions to try, or is this kind of thing just out of Shopify’s scope? I would assume not as Shopify is powering some pretty big online stores out there…
All help and advice / suggestions is greatly welcomed at this stage!
Thank you!
Regards,
Lee
