How can I link my Wordpress site to Shopify while retaining Cloudflare services?

Hello, we have a wordpress site. There are buy buttons on the wordpress site the link to Shopify. When checking out, logging into Shopify account, ETC, it happens at “mystorename.myshopify.com”. We want this to be “shop.mydomain.com”.

To do this, Shopify wants me to change our A and www CNAME record to point to Shopify. How do we get this setup in such a way that we retain going to our wordpress site first? We don’t want to point to Shopify, and have them direct to our wordpress site.

We are also using Cloudflare’s registrar and CDN network. There are a number of firewalls, bot protection, and caching we want Cloudflare to handle for our wordpress site. My understanding is that we would loose that by having the user first go to Shopify, and Shopify then going out to fetch the wordpress site.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you are going to use a subdomain different from www you don’t have to setup a CNAME for www but for the preferred subdomain.

In your case shop, as I understood. So need to a record in your domains DNS

Thanks! Before I was using “shops.shopify.com” rather than “yourstorename.myshopify.com”, and was also entering the root domain on shopify to verify rather than “shop.mydomain.com”.

Is this the correct way? Did it work?
I got the advice to ignore the error, since everything worked just fine.
We’re still pointing to shops.shopify.com. per this guide: Shopify Help Center | Connecting a subdomain.

But does it would be nice to get rid of the error message..
