How can I link two domain names to one Shopify account during rebranding?

Hi all,

I am planning to rebrand my business with a new business name.

As part of this rebrand I want to keep my existing Shopify account but change the URL domain name (to the new brand name).

I also want to keep my previous domain name, so if anyone visits the old domain it links to the brand new domain.

Any ideas on how to do this? Is it possible to have 2 domain names connect to one Shopify account?

You can indeed get a new domain and keep your old one so customers can find your store that way.

The first step here is to purchase your new domain, this can be done either through registering with us directly or purchasing via a third party host such as GoDaddy and following these steps here.
Next, you will need to set your new domain as the primary domain, and this is done by completing these steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Domains.

  2. In the Primary domain section, click Change primary domain.

  3. Select the domain that you want to set as your primary domain.

  4. Click Save.

Once this is done, you should be all set with the new re-branded URL without losing the old one.
