How can I make a slideshow image clickable in the Publisher theme?

Looking for a way to make the slideshow image clickable for the link (instead of having the button) in the new 2.0 free theme by Shopify called Publisher. (Publisher is the title of the theme).

I found this tutorial on here for other themes:
https://community.shopify.com/topic/904650.

However that post was started in 2020 and doesn’t have info on the newer themes, also Shopify Admins do not seem to be responding to it anymore.

I imagine like the templates listed there it is a matter of editing the code, (most likely the slideshow.liquid), but I am not aware of where/what to edit.

You can try to replace the code in the section slideshow.liquid with this code
and the url you can add into the button link in block settings

I appreciate the attempt but sadly that did not work. Replaced the code in slideshow.liquid with this and then went and put the link in the “button link” box… doesn’t work. Thank you for trying though.

I tried your response again but this time I published the page so it was live and tested that way (instead of the customization screen) and it worked. Thank you again, sorry for not doing that earlier.
