How can I make Google notice my products and link shipping costs?

Topic summary

Goal: have Google show products and handle shipping costs. The user is unsure about setting up the Google channel and a Merchant account.

Key clarification:

  • Google Merchant Center (GMC) is used to list products for Google Shopping: free listings, shopping ads, Buy on Google, and Display.
  • To have products appear on Google Shopping, set up GMC and submit product data.

Shipping setup:

  • Third‑party shipping apps (e.g., Boxify linked to Canada Post) cannot be directly connected to GMC via the free app; paid options may also not support this.
  • Action: review Boxify/Canada Post rates and manually replicate equivalent shipping settings within GMC.

Resources:

  • An official Google guide to configuring shipping in GMC was provided.

Status:

  • No disagreement reported. Guidance given; the user must configure GMC and manually set shipping rates. The thread appears open with implementation pending.

Set up the google channel and a merchant account. I am not sure if this is what I should be doing! All i want at moment is to have google ‘see’ our products. I am not even sure what a google merchant account does.

Second question we use boxify which is linked to our commercial canada post account to calculate shipping in north america, and it works perfectly with our shopify account.. How can I get that information to link with google as it asks to add shipping costs.

So confused, way over my understanding.

Google Merchant Center is for shopping listings. You can list products on the free listings section, and also shopping ads, buy on Google, display.

You can not link 3rd party shipping apps to Google Merchant Center using the free app, I am not even sure any paid app can either.

You need to check with Boxify what the rates are, then replicate this in GMC.
