How can I make my items on sale? so customers will see and compare previous price to discounted?

You could set a Compare at price to show the sale price and the original price at the same time with the Sale label.
To set a Compare at price, you can follow the steps below:

From Shopify Admin > Product > Click on the product you want to put on sale.

Scroll down to the Variants section > Add variant. ( if the product is a single-variant product, ignore this step)

Scroll down to the Pricing section, and set the Compare at price field to the product’s original price.

Set the Price of the product to your new sale price.

Click Save.

Good question! Being able to show customers that they are potentially saving money is a very useful tool for increasing your conversion rate, and even the average order value.
As @AvadaCommerce has kindly mentioned, the easiest way to do this would be to utilize the ‘Compare at Price’ feature located on the Product details page. The Price field will be the selling price for the product, but the Compare At Price will be a sort of recommended retail price, or price before discount. Keep in mind that the value in Compare at price must be higher than the value in Price to show a sale price. Check out this help doc for more information on setting sale prices.
How the prices appear on your storefront will actually depend on the theme you are using. Some themes may say things like ‘Sale’ and show the before & after prices. Others may simply show a previous striked through price, and then a lower current price. As an example, this is how it would look in the most recent version of the free Shopify Dawn Theme: In this example I set the Price to €5 and the compare at price to €10.
