I’m using the Craft theme and it comes with predictive search, but the search only brings up ‘predictions’ if the keywords are present in the product title. Can I modify this so that keywords included in the product description are also included? Because some of my site visitors type a feature of the product instead of the name, and since the feature is mentioned in the product description, it doesn’t show up in predictive search — but it shows up on the search results page. Is there any way to modify the predictive search to scrape text in descriptions too?
Great question, @Ksunny
I would recommend finding and hiring a Shopify expert who is a developer that can code this feature into your store. Our Shopify experts directory can be found here.
Otherwise, a third-party app solution such as Smart Search & Filter may be worth looking into as it offers a variety of search features.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
Ah I see, I’ll explore those options. Thank you Dirk ![]()
Hello @Ksunny ,
You can add predictive search functionality by using third-party apps or you can hire a developer to code.
Happy to help, @Ksunny . Best of luck with the business!
Having the standard Shopify search to support this is not easy and you may need to hire a Shopify Expert. An easy way is to enable the search and suggestion for the Product Description in this app https://apps.shopify.com/ultimate-search-and-filter-1. You can go to App settings => Search index and enable Search and Suggestion for Product description.
