How can I make the search bar static in the Showcase Theme?

Hi

Thank you for the code/solution to remove the search bar in Showcase theme. My question is therefore, is there a way where one is able to maintain the search-bar + magnifying glass icon but as a static visible search bar (like the one on this Shopify page)

instead of the extra page that pops up when clicking the magnifying glass?
