How can I manage inventory for custom-made items with many variants on Shopify?

So I’m switching to Shopify from Etsy, but I can’t find out how to go about inventory for my custom-made items. I have 60 variants because it is very customizable, but only about 15 I can sell per listing. I was expecting to have an option like Etsy where I can have one quantity that isn’t affected by the number of variants but I’m not seeing that. What should I do about this?

Hi @bunlover ,

Welcome to Shopify! I’m glad to hear that you’ve made the switch and I’d be happy to help you here. As a general note, I’d recommend checking out our guide on migrating to Shopify for advice on the considerations you should be making when moving over to our platform.

In terms of variants, you can add up to 100 per product and should not be capped at 15. You can have up to three variant options per product (e.g. Size, Colour, Material). Can you tell me more about the product you are creating within Shopify and what variants you are adding? Are you receiving an error message when you try to add more variants?

There are a number of apps on the Shopify App Store that allow merchants to make their products more customizable, but for now we’ll focus on trying to get your variants added without any apps as you should be able to add 60.

I don’t think you understood what he meant. He wants to know how he can limit total quantity of goods sold to only 15. Regardless of how many variations, he wants to sell only 15 total
