Dutch merchants are seeking ways to accept iDeal payments and manage recurring orders via SEPA Direct Debit on Shopify. The original poster uses Bold Subscriptions but finds it only supports credit cards.
Key Solutions Discussed:
GoCardless Integration: N_Abey repeatedly offers a custom subscription app connected with GoCardless, which supports SEPA Direct Debit across multiple European countries. Later announces an official Shopify app is now available (https://apps.shopify.com/gocard-dd).
Stripe Payment Links: paidmembersapp suggests using Stripe Checkout with SEPA support through their app, noting SEPA requires handling “delayed payment notifications.” Provides YouTube tutorial for implementation.
Third-Party Apps: Mentions of ReCharge (credit card only), Appstle Memberships, and “Shopify Stripe Checkout” as potential solutions.
Current Status:
Multiple users express the same need throughout the thread. The discussion remains largely unresolved for many participants, with several follow-up requests for information going unanswered. The GoCardless app announcement appears to be the most concrete solution offered, supporting SEPA and other regional direct debit methods across 30+ countries.

As a Dutch company with mainly Dutch customers, we would like to give the option to pay with iDeal and manage the recurring order payments via SEPA Direct Debit.
At the moment we’re using Bold Subscriptions to manage the recurring orders, but it looks like only credit card is available as a payment method for that app.
Is there any way to let customers pay with iDeal and make their order recurring, maybe via a different app?
We’re very new to Shopify, so all help is appreciated!
Currenlty I’m struggling with the same problem. Can’t seem to integrate SEPA Direct Debit for our recurring payments. We’re using payment provider Mollie at the moment. We’re using ReCharge as our subscription app but it only allows credit card payments. Are you able to provide me with some details as well? Would be much appreciated!
Though our application you will be able to create fully flexible subscription packagers for your products and take recurring payments through SEPA direct debit.
Feel free to drop me a DM or send me a email on “nipuna at oganro dot com” for more details.
As of last week, Stripe Payment Links now support 20+ alternative payment methods including SEPA. SEPA is a “delayed payment notification” payment method so you need an app to listen for when the payment occurs. You can use https://stripe.com/partners/paid-members-app with any standard Stripe account and simply link a button on your Shopify website to open Stripe Checkout with SEPA if SEPA is enabled in your Stripe account.

Here is my YouTube video on No-Code Stripe Checkout with Delayed Notifications (SEPA etc.). Update - Stripe just updated their no-code Stripe Payment Links to allow SEPA so you can skip the custom code and just have a standard Stripe account and make a payment link you embed into your Shopify site. https://youtu.be/_JffPWL0EB0
