How can I manage single and case inventory tracking for the same product?

Help… I need to simplify things… Here is my scenario

Product A - 1 bottle, 1 lb bag, 5 lb bag = all at retail prices shown in the online store

Product A - Cases (12 bottles) = at wholesale price not shown in the online store that we manually use for orders for wholesale customers

If my retail customers buy all of the bottles in their inventory, the website shows out of stock even though I have cases of bottles of Product A. I have to take a case from the wholesale case inventory, split it into 12 bottles and add it to the retail Product A inventory.

Is there a way that I can have ALL inventory of Product A tracked as bottles, but still be able to have my retail bottle prices online and the wholesale prices for 12 Bottles (a case) not displayed online for wholesale customers?

What you can do in this is make the single bottle the smallest unit and kit your 12 packs against it. Your master inventory is then based on the single bottle.

Our app has 2 main features that let you set this up and manage your inventory correctly.

1. Inventory Management

Bundleup lets you connect up your product to components and it then updates the inventory based on the component stock level. So in your case you would set the 12 pack up to be based on 12 x single bottles. If there is not enough stock to make a 12 pack then the product will go out of stock.

2. Order Fulfilment

When you sell one of the 12 packs the stock level of the single bottle SKU won’t reduce automatically. What Bundleup does is update the order post purchase by replacing the order line with the component SKUs as order lines which then reduces stock. This then feeds into point 1 above where it updates all linked products.

I thought about doing it as bundles, but I have a wrinkle there - my cases are wholesale priced so I don’t want them to show up in my online store to retail customers. Can I exclude case bundles from appearing in the store?
