How can I merge two accounts into one for a single retail store?

Topic summary

A store owner seeks to consolidate two Shopify accounts: one managing POS inventory for their retail location, and another handling their website and online inventory.

Key Challenge:
Shopify does not offer a native merge function between separate accounts.

Recommended Approach:

  • Select one account as the primary store
  • Manually migrate data from the secondary account (products, pages, themes, customer data, order history)
  • Export/import process required for most data transfers
  • Theme may need to be repurchased if not already owned by the primary account

Implementation Options:

  1. Hire a Shopify Expert/Partner for seamless migration
  2. Use syncing apps to transfer data between stores
  3. Professional services available, with one provider noting recent experience migrating complex setups including apps, subscriptions, and loyalty points

Status: The discussion remains open with no decision made. Multiple service providers have offered assistance, with pricing mentioned starting around €8,000+ depending on complexity.

We have two shopify accounts one with our store POS inventory. Then the other account we have our website and some of our online inventory on it. What is the simplest way to merge the two accounts so we just have one account for our retail store?

Hey @Maisi62 ,

Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to merge two Shopify stores.

You’d have to pick one of them to be the ‘main store’ and then migrate the data from the 2nd store to the main store (ex. products, pages, theme, etc.). This would basically require exporting data from the 2nd store and then importing it to the ‘main store’, and then potentially re-setting up your theme and content pages (depending on which store you decide to use as the ‘main’ one).

Your best bet for having this done seamlessly is to hire a Shopify Expert/Partner from this page: https://www.shopify.com/partners/directory/services/store-setup/migrate-from-another-platform

(This is a service I offer; you can reach out to me via email directly, support@stephensworld.ca, for more details).

Note: If you decide to use your POS store as the main store, and it doesn’t have the same theme added/purchased as your other store, then you’ll need to purchase the theme again.

Cheers,

Stephen

Hello @Maisi62 ,

The merge is not an option. The best way is to use the syncing app between 2 stores and sync data from the unneeded one to the primary you are going to use.

Best regards,
Anastasia

We’ve recently done this on 4 separate occasions. our process is now designed to ensure everything is merged under one shop and im happy to offer a free consultation to anyone who is interested.

Our mist complex project including several apps that also required careful migration:

We migrated the data/subscriptions/loyalty points/order history and customer accounts from the ‘smaller’ store into the ‘bigger store’ through a long list of step-by-step tasks that including exporting data, preparing import sheets, and then making sure that the destination store (i.e. the bigger one) is ready for the import. It’s not a small feat but definitely worth the hassle when considering how much easier your life is right after. Drop me a message on linkedin if you’re still thinking of doing this https://www.linkedin.com/in/matthiascamilleri/

our prices range from €8,000 + depending in complexity. Happy to chat!
