How can I merge two different online stores into one?

Topic summary

Goal: Combine products from a paid Shopify Basic Plan store into a trial-period store and decide what to do with the original account.

Latest guidance:

  • If keeping only the trial store, deactivate the paid-plan store and start a subscription on the trial store. Deactivated store data is retained for 2 years.
  • If you might return to the paid store, use the “Pause and Build” plan to reduce fees while keeping it accessible.

Product transfer options:

  • CSV import (CSV = comma-separated values file). Shopify provides step-by-step instructions to export from one store and import into another.
  • One-click copy via apps: Kopy – Copy Products or Copify – Copy Products from the Shopify App Store.

Status and actions:

  • No final outcome confirmed. The original poster is considering transferring products, then deactivating the paid store and paying for the trial store.
  • Shopify staff requested details about the type of products and offered resources; another participant indicated they have the same need.

Open items:

  • Confirmation of the chosen transfer method and whether the paid store will be paused or deactivated remains pending.

I currently have 2 different stores, one on the basic plan and one on the trail plan. How do I combine the products in the current paid plan to the trail plan store? After the products are transferred to the do I just delete that Shopify account and pay the new account?

Hi, @BitterGlitter1 .

Welcome to the Shopify Community and thanks for reaching out!

To confirm, you’re looking to transfer products from the store that’s on the Basic Plan to your new store that is in the trial period?

If you wish to maintain only one store (the trial store) and no longer wish to maintain the paid plan store you can deactivate the paid plan store, and start your monthly subscription for the trial store.

If you’d like to maintain your paid plan store, you can always utilize the pause and build plan that allows you to pause your store at a reduced subscription fee. If you choose to deactivate your store, your store’s information will be guaranteed for 2 years. We have more information on the pause and build plan and store deactivation in our pausing or deactivating your store resource.

Have you already had a chance to look into how to transfer the products from your first store? One option is to import them using a CSV file. We’ve included steps in our Importing products from another store resource to help you with this process. A second option is using apps like Kopy - Copy Products or Copify - Copy Products from the Shopify App store to import your products in one click.

Lastly, I’d love to hear and learn more about what kind of online store you have. What kind of products will you be selling?

I look forward to hearing back!
