I am having a problem with entering a different location in my checkout section. Where it says country/region it is set on The United States and I am unable to set any other countries in that section. How do I set other countries in that section???

If you only have a primary market (US) available on the Markets section ( you could check it by going to Setting > Markets), you cannot select any other regions or countries at check out.
The international market is inactive by default so now you have to activate it to sell in other countries or regions.

From what you’re describing it sounds like you may have set up a Shipping zone for the United States only. If you wish to add other countries to that list, you will need to go to Settings > Shipping and Delivery, then click into Manage on your general profile, where the shipping zones can be added:
As you can see from the above screenshot, I have 2 separate shipping zones - one for the US and another for New Zealand. You can add more than 1 country to a shipping zone i.e. all of Europe can be added as one shipping zone, which will add all those countries to the list. You are also able to add different shipping rates to each zone. For more info, I have a help guide on Shipping zones here.
