Hi there. I’m setting up my Shopify website and looking at the order processing steps and documentation. We make to order so when a customer places an order, I would like them to first receive an Order Acknowledgement email. We can then double check we have all the materials and information we need to make the product and then can confirm the order by sending them an Order Confirmation email, at which point we can take their money. I see Shopify has set email templates. Is there a way we can change the Order Confirmation email template into an Order Acknowledgement email and then add in an additional step, by creating an additional template whereby they receive an Order Confirmation from us in which we confirm the order and say we will begin making it? Fairly new to this so hope that makes sense!
Topic summary
Request to implement a two-step email workflow for a make-to-order Shopify store: 1) send an initial Order Acknowledgement email immediately after purchase (to confirm receipt without charging), 2) after verifying materials and details, send an Order Confirmation email that confirms production will begin and payment will be taken. The core question is whether Shopify’s default email notifications can be customized to: - repurpose the existing Order Confirmation template into an Order Acknowledgement, and - add an additional, separate template/notification for the final confirmation step aligned with payment capture. The poster is new to Shopify and seeks guidance on modifying templates and introducing an extra step. Latest update: another user reports the same need and requests the solution. Status: no answers provided; the issue remains unresolved.
I’m in this exact boat now and can see no one replied. Could you let me know how you solved this please?
