How can I modify my website's banner and hide cart feature?

Hi,

I have a few questions. If anyone knows how to accomplish this, please let me know.

1.) How do I completely hide the cart and search in the top of the page? My website is information only and not an actual store.

2.) How do I make the banner on my homepage shrink on a mobile device? It looks great on my desktop but when it comes to my phone, you only see the middle part of the banner.
