How can I modify old invoices to include sales tax in my online store?

Hey, we have our Shop running for a few months now with initially setting tax collection to “Include sales tax in product price and shipping rate”. We have had around 200 orders now, and we noticed that shopify removed all taxes from all invoices. So in every invoice, the taxes are marked as 0 and not 19%. How can I change all old invoices at once? The total won’t change, but I need the invoice to reflect that 19% of it is taxes. Is this possible?

Hi there, @john322 . Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community with your question and situation around your taxes and record-keeping. My name is Imogen. It’s good to meet you!

First, I recommend reaching out to our Authenticated Support Team if your tax settings aren’t working as they should be. This would be a worthwhile reason to connect with the support, and they can likely advise on some suggestions to help you reconcile your bookkeeping.

One thought I have is that you could explore your orders via a CSV, using spreadsheet software like Excel, and use a formula to calculate the tax on each order. You can use a formula within the spreadsheet software to calculate the tax for each order, and then have that available for reference in the future, or attempt a re-upload of the orders to your Admin. Keep a back-up of the unedited CSV to re-import in case importing the updated CSV results in something unintended.
