How can I modify the 'Buy Now' button to include existing cart items?

The current ‘Buy Now’ / dynamic checkout button behavior is go straight to checkout with the item/ quantity on the product page, but not to include any existing cart items.

It seems the default behavior is to just dump all cart items? I don’t understand how this would be a preferred user experience.

Anyway, I would like to modify the ‘Buy Now’ so that any existing cart items are pulled into the checkout with the selected ‘buy now’ product, is there an easy way to allow for this?

there’s no easy way, but this is possible.
you need to create new button and add some additional ajax behaviour to it.
