How can I obtain more customer details for local pickups?

Topic summary

Issue: Local Pickup orders only include the customer’s email; name and other contact details are missing. This prevents printing a name on the pickup label and limits contact options for fraud or order issues.

Context: The store is using Shopify’s Local pickup under Shipping and delivery with a specific location (“Tap Room”). They believe all products are eligible for collection and shared their domain (https://www.bristolbeerfactory.co.uk/).

Platform guidance: With Shopify’s native Local pickup option, a customer name should always be captured; checkout should not complete without it. A support link to the native feature was referenced.

Requested info/actions: Shopify support asked how Local pickup was enabled and requested the domain and example products for testing. The merchant provided the domain and confirmed their setup, then followed up asking for a review.

Status: Unresolved/ongoing. Next steps likely involve Shopify testing the merchant’s checkout/pickup flow to verify configuration or identify a misconfiguration causing missing name data.

We offer a Local Pickup option on our store but the customer’s name and contact details doesn’t show on the order (other than email address). This means we cannot print the person’s name on the shipping label for the order to be collected and we have no means of contacting them other than by email in case of fraudulent orders or any issues with their purchase.

Is there a way of doing this?

Hi, @achenderson

Thanks for posting to the forums.

Can you elaborate on how you have enabled your local pick up option? If using the native Shopify option there should always be a name provided or the checkout process can’t be completed.

If you could provide more context, including your domain and the local pick up products for testing, that would be great!

We are using the ‘Local pickup’ option in the Shipping and delivery section using our Tap Room as a location.

As far as I’m aware all our products are available for collection.

Our domain is https://www.bristolbeerfactory.co.uk/

Help gratefully received if we have set something up wrong!

Hi Skye, sorry for being slow to respond!

Could you possibly have a look at this query?

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:
