How can I offer multiple fabric selections in a product page?

In my shop I sell furniture and have over 40 fabrics. I need customer to have the option to order Fabric Samples, and select 5 fabrics for one price of €10. I wanted to add the whole colour palette to 5 options creating variants, but the warning said I cannot have more than 100 variants per product. Any suggestions?

  1. Using an App Integration: Utilize a Shopify app designed for custom selections, such as Infinite Options, Bold Product Options, or Advanced Product Options. These apps allow you to add customizable options that do not count towards the variant limit. Customers can use these options to specify their fabric choices.
  2. Bundle Products: Create a bundle product where customers can choose combinations of five fabrics as a set. You can pre-define several popular combinations, each as a separate product, thus staying under the 100-variant limit while still offering a range of choices.
  3. Form-Based Solution: Implement a form on your Shopify store using apps like Form Builder with File Upload or POWr Form Builder. Set up the form so that customers can check or list the fabrics they are interested in. This method keeps the fabric selections separate from the Shopify variant system.

Each solution has different implications for how you manage orders and inventory, so consider which option aligns best with your operational workflows and customer experience goals.

We sell fabric sofas online and I have 40 colours, out of 3 different type of fabrics. As an online sofa shop we started to sell fabric samples, so people can make their decisions based on fabric samples. You can choose 5 out of 40 colours.

The sample you show is clear and intuitive, but it is only 25… I have 40 swatches and it would be cool to display them all. Perfect solution would:

  1. Show the swatches (like on the image below)

  2. Select the swatches

  3. Info - “you cannot select more” or similar

  4. Then checkout and done.

You’re free to create as many image swatches as you need with our app. Moreover, you can activate the multiselection feature within our Image Swatches option type and set the maximum selection to 5. This way, if customers try to select more than 5 options, they’ll receive a validation message.
