How can I optimize the speed of website built on Shopify?

Hello community,
I have a product selling website on Shopify through which I mostly sell the customized products. In the start, it were very good but now I’m facing issues related to the speed of my website. I have heard that the speed is optimized through optimizing the code of website. Is it true or not because I’m worried about my store which is as https://vograce.com working from many years. If I get down, I’ll lost majority of my users. Can anyone from the community help me out how can I optimize the speed of my store? Waiting for the response from your side.
Thanks in advance!

Hello @hammadaslam79 ,

I am Gina from the flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $6Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot. Hope you are having a good day.

I have analyzed your site. Below are a few suggestions to optimize the speed of your website.

  • Optimize favicon

The favicon.ico file, which contains the website’s icon, resides in the server’s root directory. Requests for this file can carry unnecessary cookies. Make sure the favicon is small in size, reducing the overall cookie size for the server’s root and improving performance. Additionally, make the favicon cacheable to avoid frequent requests.

  • Minimize DNS lookups

DNS is like a phonebook that maps hostnames to IP addresses. When you enter a URL in your browser, it contacts a DNS resolver to get the IP address. DNS lookups take time, typically ranging from 20 to 120 milliseconds. To reduce the impact, limit the number of DNS lookups your page requires.

  • Reduce HTTP requests

Having fewer components on a page reduces the number of HTTP requests needed to load the page, resulting in faster loading times. Combine files, scripts, CSS, and use techniques like CSS Sprites and image maps to reduce the number of components.

  • Compress components with gzip

Compression reduces response times by shrinking the size of the HTTP response. Gzip is a widely supported and effective compression method, typically reducing response sizes by about 70%. Most modern browsers can handle gzip compression.

  • Add Expires headers

As web pages become more complex with various scripts, stylesheets, images, and Flash content, initial page visits may require multiple HTTP requests to load all components. By using Expires headers, these components become cacheable, reducing the need for subsequent HTTP requests.

  • Use cookie-free domains

When the browser requests a static image along with cookies, the server ignores the unnecessary cookies. However, this still generates unnecessary network traffic. To avoid this, create a subdomain dedicated to hosting static components and ensure they are requested without cookies.

  • Avoid HTTP 404 (Not Found) errors

Receiving a 404 error after making an HTTP request is costly and negatively impacts user experience. While helpful 404 messages can assist users, they still waste server resources. Ensure that all requested resources are available to prevent 404 errors.

Refer to this guide to improve your online store speed.

Hope this is helpful.
