Does anyone know if there are settings to set preferences on the Admin page, specifically Orders? Yesterday, I noticed that in order to search for a specific order, I now have to go to a little dropdown menu to show the search field. It’s a pain the butt! Does anyone know how to make the search field stay there all the time again? I really wish Shopify would ask users before they make changes like this. It makes more work for the rest of us.
I’m also irritated when I do shipping label and there are more items than one and the shipping weight doesn’t match what Shopify says the weights are supposed to be based on user entries. It doesn’t account for the size of the items or the fact that multiple items may require a larger box that in turn creates a higher shipping weight. It also doesn’t account for the distance a package may travel. For instance, I may ship a smaller/heavier item in a smaller, less substantial box if shipping in-state vs one crossing the entire United States where a heavier, more substantial box would be required. Again, user input would be most beneficial before making these changes.
Yes, removing the search bar and hiding it behind another click is an insane move. I wish they would make this an option - some developer over at Shopify thinks they know better than the users and has made an unilateral decision that goes against common user experience. So frustrating!!!
Agreed, but today I can’t even gt the search to work. Love scrolling through pages and pages to find an order to print!
This is happening to me as well. Haven’t received a response on my support ticket yet. And I agree that the latest update to the order search/filter function is completely a step in the wrong direction for user experience.
Yes agreed - the drop down for the Search Bar in products is such a time waster.
It’s also happening to orders and customer search. Very annoying and wastes a lot of my time.
At the time of the new reply, there are 76 views so clearly users are seeing the same issues I am and since someone already mentioned a support ticket without a response from Shopify, I think the only way to get their attention for us to all report these issues so someone has to see that this is a big waste of resources for sellers to constantly have to use a drop-down to search orders, products, and customers. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it! I have two websites on Shopify so can you imagine doing it constantly for two websites? I also despise the weight message about products while generating a shipping label. It’s pointless and basically irrelevant with 2 or more items. I don’t know who creates these changes but clearly, they do not understand shipping processes at all, nor do they test the changes as an end user. I’ve had issues with communicating certain subjects about shipping with Shopify in the past and I believe it’s because I am in the United States and they are in Canada. Things are done differently here in the states. It’s also one of the reasons I stopped shipping to Canada years ago! Again, it consumes valuable resources that gives only limited information for shippers and isn’t ever correct when it comes to VAT, taxes, and duties on products leaving the USA. If Shopify was smart, they would hire someone in the USA to assess these issues before making major changes that do not work. The same goes for issues like the search field.
Have you received a response from Shopify yet? If so, could you please share here?
There is another discussion happening on this issue with a lot more comments, all saying the same thing. I was told that Shopify responded, but I can’t find their response. A few users have opened a ticket to have the search box returned to the top of the Products and Orders pages on the admin site. Please do the same.
No, I haven’t. I think Shopify has a mess on their hands and perhaps the code is so messed up now that no one can figure out how to put it back the way it was. I had to delete an entire supplier product catalog this past weekend and it took me hours as it was but with the extra irritating steps, it took even longer. Using the back button isn’t always optimal because that creates cache issues that crash Shopify. You would think someone would address this already.
