How can I permanently remove unwanted tags from my online store?

I hired someone to come in and “clean up” my store. In as part of doing that they were to add specific tags so that I would be able to create collections by age. Long story short, they went rogue and created many new tags that I want to remove. I have been unable to find a way to permanently remove the rogue tags from my shopify. Can someone please point me in the right direction or let me know how? I was unable to find an answer for the latest version of shopify. Thank you.

Hey, @CloverToys

Happy to help. Were these tags that were added to your store all tags applied to products? If so, you can export your products into a CSV file. Guide here on how to do that.

With your CSV file, you can use a tool like Excel, or Google Sheets to work within it. That file will have a ‘product tags’ column that displays all the tags associated with every product in your store. From there, you can quickly perform bulk actions to find and remove all the tags you want to get rid of.

By the way, what is your end goal when it comes to creating collections based on age?

Hi @CloverToys

You can remove product tags from admin.
Go to product and choose product.
In right sidebar there is a tags option form that option you can delete the tags.

We are a toy store and it’s helpful to be able to look for toys designed for 2 year old’s rather than look through all toys.

That makes sense @CloverToys ! Leading your customers to their ideal product is such a benefit when done successfully. Have you considered looking into product recommendation apps that accomplish exactly that?

For example, there is one called Visual Quiz Builder by Whai Technologies available in the Shopify app store. They offer a completely free 14-day trial to utilize and you can see the app in action before installing it here on their demo store. I’d imagine an additional single sale per month will pay for the cost of the app and then some. I definitely recommend it as you can lead customers to this recommendation page if you are running paid ads on social media and Google.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
