How can I personalize abandoned cart emails with customer names?

I want my email subject to have my customers name in it for example, " Hey Emma, did you forgot something?"

How would I do this? Much thanks

Hi @cloudy ,

Thanks for reaching out here. That’s a great question.

To include a customer name in the abandoned checkout email, you must edit the notification template code.

There is a great video tutorial on YouTube that will teach you how to edit the template step by step.

Please note that this is a third party external guide. And if you need to reset a template to its default, click Revert to default below the template editor. Please find the video tutorial right here.

If you don’t feel comfortable editing the template code yourself, you can always reach out to our Support team. Assuming your store has enough complimentary design time left, our team can customise this for you.

You can reach out to our Contact Us page on this link. Then log in to your store. It will allow us to verify you as the store owner securely. Once you have successfully logged in, you should be able to reach out to a Support Advisor and discuss the customisation request.

Let me know if that works for you.

It worked thank you, is there anyway to make my abandoned cart emails not go into the promotions tab, and just the normal inbox?

Hi again @cloudy ,

I’m happy that worked for you!

The Promotion tab is a Gmail feature, and Shopify does not control it or how it captures emails.

However, I did find some suggestions on reducing the chances of your emails ending up in the customer’s Promotion tab. You can find it here.

I believe maybe the best tip in that link is this bit here:

Finally, beyond what is listed in the link provided, there is not much else Shopify can do to control how notifications are sorted at the recipient’s end.

I hope that helps.
