How can I properly separate men's and women's sub-collections in a clothing store?

Hello everyone,

I wanted to create a clothing store, and i’m trying to create a “Man” and “Women” collections.

I created the collections at Products, then i created the menu items on navigation (connecting them with the collections).

I can see the “Man” and “Woman” collections on my theme, means everything is good so far.

The problem starts here: I want to create sub collections under “man” called “T-shirts”, “Hoodies” and so on…

I created collections at Products, called “T-shirts Man”, “T-shirts Woman” and “Hoodies Man”, “Hoodies Woman”, and make products be listed there only if they have the tag “tshirts” or “hoodies” on. (also have tags “Man” and “Woman” to separate products, witch means for a product to be listed on the collection called “Man” it needs the tag “Man”, and for it to be listed on the collection called “T-shirt Man” it needs the tag “tshirt” and “Man”

So I created 2 Featured Collections under “Man” on my theme, connecting them with the collections i created earlier called “T-shirts Man” and “Hoodies Man”. But the problem is that they show the same thing on Man and Women, even thought the separation with the tags is well done.

If someone have a solution for this, or maybe another way of creating those sub collections, i would appreciate the help.

Also pls dont hesitate to ask me questions if anything is unclear.

Thanks

If i’m assuming right how your doing this then for the womens top level collection create an alternate template so it can have it’s own settings separate from the mens. Or vice versa.

For vintage themes see this customization tutorial as well

In some cases the ideas can be applied to OS2.0 themes such as dawn but not always.

If you need this customization you can contact me , contact info in signature please provide context: post url, store url, theme name, problem detail, etc.

Thank you very much for the solution, it worked very well. Even better, while i was fixing it, i found out how to make dropdown menus, witch made the job much easier.

Still new on all of this, but with very big ambition. :slightly_smiling_face:
