How can I recover my Shopify account after changing my number?

Hi!

I recently changed my number and did not change my number prior to updating my Shopify information. Yes I know I could use my recovery codes, but I never downloaded them.

What am I to do now?

This happens quite a lot, so don’t worry we have a process in place to disable this security feature. Please note that changing the 2 step authentication for your store account is a major change as it relates to the store owner and access to sensitive account data. To get help with this you will want to reach out to our live support channels by following these steps:

When asked to sign in/choose a store, choose to continue without a store.

Choose the closest topic to your issue.

At the bottom of the help articles provided will be all available authenticated support options.

If for any reason that is not working for you, try clearing your browser cache and cookies and attempt once more. You can also reply back to your most recent billing email, or even an old Shopify ticket you might have to get in contact with our email support team.

From there, our support team will gather some information from you and then escalate to our account integrity team for a review. The account team will follow up via email to verify your store ownership and allow you to make this change. This process does take some time, so I want to set that expectation now.
