Hi, @Smultronetshop .

Thanks for posting to the Shopify Community!

When creating a URL redirect, please consider the following:

  • You can’t redirect URLs that begin with the following prefixes: /apps, /application, /cart, /carts, /orders, or /services.
  • You can’t redirect URLs that use fixed Shopify paths: /products, /collections, /collections/all.
  • You can redirect only to broken URLs. Broken URLs display error messages, such as Page not found or 404, on a page or in the page title. If the URL still loads a valid webpage, then the URL redirect won’t work.

We have included steps in our URL Redirect resource for more information.

Hey Victoria,

I feel like the third bullet point in the URL Redirect resource has a typo?

  • You can redirect only to broken URLs.

Or I’m missing the point of what they are trying to say? Not sure why you’d redirect to a broken URL. Perhaps “You can apply redirects only to broken URLs”?

Best–

Hi @NotFoundBot ,

Thank you for pointing this out! Yes, this appears to be a typo. I’ve checked in with the team who manage our Help Center documentation and we’re in agreement that this bullet point should read “you can redirect only from broken URLs”. Our team are looking into this and a change should be made on this Help Center page soon to reflect this information.
