I’m just starting my store and I’m about 3 weeks in and we’re at 100 sales already which is really great, but one thing I’ve noticed is that our abandoned checkout is really high, like $2000 in the 3 weeks.
Right now I have our shipping set at a flat rate of $15 across Canada, which seems to be a pretty good average. We let Shopify handle our shipping rates/labels. But my question is, is there a better way to get better shipping rates? Is there an app we can use? Does Shopify give us bigger discounts the more sales we make?
Charging customers $15 is clearly scaring away customers, I’d like to get it down to $5-$10 but can’t find any good info on this really.

Yes! 100 sales in 3 weeks is great, but the abandoned checkout is really high according to the amount you have mentioned. Flat rate of $15 might not work at all places since it might be too high for some of the customers. Shopify normally provides good discounts for Canada Post merchants and yes, you can get better discounts if you have more sales (hope you have got more by now).
Another option is to use your own Canada Post account where you might get much more discounted rates than what Shopify is giving. You can have a look into the rates and other features or take help from any Canada Post representatives to get an idea regarding the discounts they provide.
