How can I regain control if the store owner account is changed?

Hi everyone, I need your help. A customer of mine just emailed me about someone trying to change his password, he had a store owner account, but not anyone, someone we don’t recognize has put himself as the owner, we can’t change it anywhere because he gave the REAL owner a staff account. I have a staff account also so there ain’t a lot I can do. I’ve been looking for a phone number, email, chat from Shopify without success… Any help will highly appreciate it. We don’t know what this person is up to. thank you!!

Account ownership can only be changed through the account owner account, so if this was an unauthorized change, then it is likely that the culprit somehow gained access to the account owner’s credentials. The best thing to do here is have the account owner reach out to us directly so we can escalate this to our Account Integrity team. They can create an ownership dispute, and lock the account until they are able to determine who the rightful owner is. Once they have reviewed the escalation and determined an outcome then they will be able to help give access to the appropriate person.
