I need help removing the subscription policy since I do not use it. Even though the policy field is empty, the policy still appears in the checkout footer. And there is no “Refund policy” option in the “Order processing” section..
Topic summary
Checkout shows an unexpected “Subscription policy” link even when the store doesn’t use subscriptions and policy fields appear empty. Several users confirm the issue; the suggested path via Checkout > Order processing > Refund policy does not exist/relevant.
Current fixes/workarounds:
- Settings > Policies: The link is tied to “Purchase options cancellation policy.” If this field is blank, Shopify inserts its default template. Add your own text there to control the content, or manage it as needed. Images in the thread illustrate the exact policy location.
- Online Store > Themes > (⋯) > Edit default content: Search for “subscription policy” to change or remove the link text shown in checkout. A screenshot demonstrates the field to edit. One user notes entering a single blank space in the “Subscription policy” theme content hides the link in checkout.
Status: No official setting under Checkout removes it directly. Practical resolution is to either populate the Purchase options cancellation policy or suppress the link via theme content. Discussion appears effectively resolved with these two approaches.
