How can I remove the white space under the mobile banner in the Refresh theme?

I am rebuilding my store on the refresh theme and the mobile slideshow banner has header space built under it.

On my mobile view it makes my banner look weird as there is white space under it - is there a way to remove this gap/feature. Or is there an option for me to create and upload a square banner for mobile view only? This would be my preference

It is not on my current theme that is live - it is in a draft of the refresh theme I am working on in the background.
