Is there a way to report IG influencers? I sent one money for a post and they never posted and stole my money. It wasn’t done through any shopify apps? Sent it through paypal but can’t file a complaint through them either.
Hey there!
This happens more often than you think! Not sure what your business is, but we keep a list of bloggers/influencers that do this and avoid contact. We’ve unfortunately had this happen to us numerous times and haven’t found a real solution either. We now have created documents that our bloggers/influencers have to agree to and abide by, in order to collaborate with us. We have a requirements doc, guideline doc and make sure to have constant communication through both email and Instagram, just incase. Maybe next time, try doing a gift-for-post collaboration first, to gain trust with your blogger/influencer before sending monetary compensation. We are a small. family-owned business, and have to clearly explain to bloggers/influencers that we cannot afford loss of merchandise to people who are not going to fulfill their end of the collaboration.
We hope you find your solution!

Why doesn’t instagram have a place to report them?
Hi @dude
I’m sorry to hear about this situation with an influencer who accepted payment for services they didn’t provide. Due to the circumstances, platforms like Instagram or Facebook aren’t able to get involved. This was a business transaction that you and the influencer entered into and Instagram just happened to be the platform they were supposed to be advertising on for you.
Your next best steps in this situation would be to contact your local police department to file a report and see if they are able to open an investigation on your behalf. I hope that some of our other merchants will continue to share their own best practices and experiences to help you assess the viability of using an influencer again in the future for marketing.
