How can I resolve an unauthorized account created with my email?

Hello,

I am not a customer nor am I a merchant on Shopify. I find it a bit ridiculous that I have to make an account to speak with customer service, which I can’t even find on this site BUT to write a post on the discussion board.

Anyway, SOMEONE has open a shopify store/account using my main email address (not this one). I need Shopify to rectify this situation, as I do not know how this person found my email address to use it to create an account here.

Please advise ASAP! As I don’t want fraudulent activities being connected to my email address.

Hey there, sorry to hear you are having this problem! Here’s a direct link to one of Shopify’s support contact pages that doesn’t require you to log in first: https://help.shopify.com/en/support/topic-select/login-issue/contact/chat

Hopefully that helps you out, good luck getting this all sorted out!

Hi, @help333336666 .

Welcome to the Shopify community and thanks for sharing your question.

I can definitely understand the urgency to have this issue looked into and will do my best to share what options are available and how to contact support without creating an account.

As, @Brett_Helium has mentioned, you can use the link provided to contact our support team without logging in or creating an account.

In the future, if you need assistance and would like to contact support without creating an account you can access the Shopify Help Center and select ‘I don’t have an account’ to bypass the login option. When contacting support please be sure to mention the account security issue you’re facing and that you do not have an account with Shopify, but are looking to have your email removed.

I’d like to share our Account Security resource and some tips to help you protect your information online.

  • Consider enabling two-factor authentication for your email/account. Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your accounts by requiring a second form of verification, such as a code sent to your phone or email.

  • Use a virtual private network (VPN.) A VPN encrypts your internet traffic and hides your IP address, making it more difficult for hackers to intercept your data.

  • Consider installing antivirus software. Antivirus software can help protect your computer from malware and other online threats.

  • Ensure your software is up to date. Software updates often include security patches that fix vulnerabilities that could be exploited by hackers.

If you have additional questions or need assistance accessing the help center, feel free to share them here.

I hope this helps!
