How can I resolve slideshow and photo alignment issues in Empire 2.0 theme?

I have a couple of issues that I have come across with the new Empire 2.0 theme.

First - The slideshow - when my desktop is narrow or if I turn my phone sideways it shows both the desktop slideshow and the mobile slide show. One will be above the other. How do I keep this from happening?

Second - When I have more text under a collection photo than another it offset’s the photos. How can I make these uniform?
