How can I protect my digital downloadable products from being shared once an end user buys the first downlaod

Great question and one that is commonly asked in regard to digital downloads!
If you would like to protect your digital download file from being shared, the best action to take would be to set a download limit, which is covered in this doc here.
This makes each download link unique, if you set a download limit for each order, then if your customer shares that link with another person who didn’t pay for the product, then it cannot be downloaded more than once. So essentially if they have the download link, it’s useless to them since they cannot download it.

A few ways to minimize or disincentivize such sharing would be:
- Setting download limit to download links
- For PDFs - Enable PDF Stamping.
Both these features are available in Wire.

There are a few Shopify apps which allow you to protect your digital downloadable products. I am familiar with FetchApp and SendOwl. They allow you to restrict clients’ access to your downloads by time and/or quantity.
