How can I set a maximum dollar amount for discount codes?

I don’t see a way to edit my post so I’ll have to just respond…at the time I posted this it absolutely worked. Tested and used a few times with real sales. With whatever update Shopify made even this does not work anymore. I am frustrated that even my little jerry rigged solution is not longer viable and shopify has not added this feature. seems pretty basic but I can’t find an app to clearly offer it either.
