How can I set default product page photos for multiple variants?

Hi!! I am hoping someone can help me.

My theme is Dawn. I have a jewelry product with multiple variables. On the final product page I want the larger photo to default to a photo with 3 necklaces.

Then only when the variable, i.e brass /Capricorn is chosen that becomes the larger photo.

Right now the large photo is defaulting to one of the variants.

Is there any way around this? Please let me know if you need more info or the URL.

You can make a 3-in-1 photo, set it as the main image, then assign the other images as the variant image for the product.

Otherwise might be best to hire someone for this task.
