I’m working on an online store and need a volume discount setup. However, instead of the discount applying to only one product, I want it to work across a group of different products.
I’ve tried using Shopify Functions, but they haven’t been reliable. Does anyone know of apps or solutions that can handle this kind of cross-product volume discount?
@RahulAgarwal can you elaborate a little bit on the scenario or the specific product? Like, are you trying to do this in the context of a single order, or are you trying to generate a flow where if someone purchases a product, they then have a discount against future products?
If you want the discount to apply to multiple products (instead of the same product), you’ll need a solution that can track the total quantity across a product group or collection.
From what I have seen, Shopify’s native discounts and even some Function setups can struggle with this, especially when the logic is like, mix any products from collection A, buy any 3 (A1 + A2 + A3), and get a volume discount.
This setup uses the Wizio Bundle Shopify app, mainly because it supports mix-and-match bundles across collections, and the discount is applied automatically in the cart based on the total quantity. The setup was fairly straightforward and worked more consistently than our Function tests.
One thing that also helped was showing the bundle offer visually on the product page so customers understand they can mix different items to unlock the discount.
If your use case is mix-and-match volume pricing, I’d recommend a dedicated bundle-style solution rather than relying solely on functions, as it is much more stable.
The goal is to offer a mix-and-match volume discount that lets customers combine products from a specific group/collection and receive a discount based on the total quantity in their cart.
Glad to hear that, I’ll give this a try. It could be helpful for my setup. Thanks for sharing!
Hi @RahulAgarwal
To apply a volume discount to a group of multiple different products instead of just a single product, you can completely do this using Easify Box Builder.
Here’s an example I’ve created so you can see how it works:
To set this up, first go to the app and select the Tiered Quantity Discounts Box type. This box type is designed to calculate discounts based on the total quantity of products added to the box, making it ideal for “buy more, save more” promotions.
Next, go to Discount & Subscription, enable Discounts, and select Edit rules. Here, you can set up the discount according to your preference. Once customers reach the required quantity, the discount will automatically be applied to the products in the box.
You can also customize the Progress message to display dynamic notifications like “Add 1 more item(s) to get 20% off,” helping customers know how many more items they need to qualify for the discount.
The app is designed with an intuitive and user-friendly interface, so you can set everything up in just a few minutes without any complex technical steps. If you need further assistance during setup, the support team is always ready to help quickly and thoroughly.
@RahulAgarwal Hey, I’m Alexis from Kefi.
Kefi can handle exactly what you’re looking for. You can set up cross-product volume discounts in which a defined set of products counts toward the same quantity threshold. So instead of “Buy 3 of Product A,” it becomes “Buy any 3 from this collection/group and unlock the discount.”
You can create tiered rules like buy 3 get 10% off, buy 5 get 15% off, and apply them across multiple SKUs. It works at the group level, not just per individual product.
Beyond volume pricing, you can also combine this with fixed bundles, mix and match bundles, and build your own bundle setups to increase AOV strategically.
If you’d like, I can walk you through how to structure this for your specific product group. Just let me know.
Hi @RahulAgarwal, I’m Ellie from BOGOS.
And you’re right, Shopify’s native setup and Functions can be quite tricky when you want a volume discount to work across a group of different products.
To handle this, I recommend using the third-party app, BOGOS. When setting up a Volume Discount offer in the app, simply select the ‘Count different products’ rule.
Here is how it solves your problem:
- You can select a group of different products (or an entire collection) to be part of one offer.
- Instead of counting only identical items, the app sums up the total quantity of any products from your selected group.
- For example, if you set a “Buy 3 items for 30% off” rule, a customer can pick 1 of product A and 2 of product B. The app will instantly recognize that the total quantity is 3 and apply the 30% discount to all of them in the cart.
- The discount recalculates automatically as customers add or remove different items from the group, ensuring a seamless experience.
This is a great way to increase your AOV by letting customers mix and match their favorite items to reach higher discount tiers.
Hope this helps!
What you’re describing is a mix-and-match volume discount by collection/group, where the discount is triggered based on total quantity across multiple products instead of a single SKU.
Shopify’s native discount system can be limited for this kind of cross-product quantity logic, especially when it needs dynamic recalculation in cart.
For this type of setup, bundle/volume discount apps that support collection-based rules and automatic cart discounts are usually used. You can also check this option:
