Hi there, I am hoping someone can help me out here…
I bought a custom domain name when setting up my shopify but now I can’t seem to figure out how to get the email to go with it?
I tried setting up an email to match through microsoft which let me “log in” but won’t show any incoming emails (i checked by sending an email from a different email address which went through but never showed up in the new one).
I tried to use it with gmail and got error codes.
How can I get the email set up for free, that matches my domain name?
Thanks for bringing your question to our Community forum. I’m more than happy to provide some suggestions here.
To achieve this, you will need to set up email forwarding. Email forwarding is a service that enables you to direct an email message that’s sent to one email address to another email address. Since you have a Shopify-managed domain, then you can set up an unlimited number of custom domain email addresses that are forwarded to your third-party email host (Microsoft in your case).
For example, if you own the domain name johns-apparel.com, then you can create a custom domain email address info@johns-apparel.com for your customers to contact and set the forwarding email address to your personal account john@gmail.com. To do so, you can follow these steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.
Click Manage for the domain that you want to set up a custom email forwarding address for.
In the Emails section, click Add forwarding email address.
In the Store email address text box, enter the email address that you want to create for your custom domain. You don’t need to type the @ symbol or anything that follows it. For example if you want the email addressinfo@johns-apparel.com, then enter info.
In the Forwarding email address text box, enter your full destination email forwarding address. For example john@gmail.com.
