I’m Australian and currently have an inactive shopify store in my own name. It would be more advantageous to me to have a Shopify store in a Company Name rather than my personal name. I only have one mobile phone so I fear that if I try to set up another Shopify store under the Company name it will reject it and say that number is already being used. How do I set up a Shopify store in this scenario, I doubt I’ll find the answer in FAQ. For the most part I expect to be selling to Americans and buying the products from AliExpress or Ecom Hunt, etc. I don’t mind closing the first shop as it’s never made any sales if that helps.
Hi, @ydecorme .
If you’d like to set up another Shopify store, you should be able to do so using the same phone number as your initial store. The system will also be able to accept the same name and email address used as your first account, but the one thing you’ll need to change is your store’s .myshopify.com URL. This is because once a .myshopify.com URL has been used, it cannot be re-used again for another store as the system uses this for login and authentication purposes.
For your currently inactive store however, do you remember if you ever signed up to and successfully onboarded to our native payment gateway, Shopify Payments? If you did, you can always reactivate your initial store, but you’ll need to get in touch with our internal taxes team so that we can help change your legal business name and information on our end. The change may not be implemented straight away, as our taxes team may be experiencing a lot of requests at the moment due to it being tax season. But once your business information has been changed, all tax information will be backdated and will reflect your new business name and information. If you never signed up to Shopify Payments in the first place however, then you should be able to simply change your business name via your Settings > Store details page, as explained on our help guide here.
So you can opt for either of the options I laid out above, it just depends on whether or not you’d like to start over completely from scratch or to continue with your inactive store.
Is your initial store completely set up, or does it still require some work before you get it back up and running again? It also sounds like you’re looking to dropship your products, so I’ll leave some resources for you below in case you need it:
