How can I set up a 'new in' overlay on a different theme?

On my previous theme , I had it set up for all NEW IN stock items to have an over lay reading"new in"

I could control how many days I wanted this to show for and it would fall off automatically

Can anyone help me set this up on my new theme- the code from old theme doesnt work on new theme

For badge and automatic hide we have to do all custom code, or i can give you just idea on that

  1. you have to code badge on grid and you can do it by product tag if want product wise.

how you want it ?

Yes but that theme was code by custom code to manage automatic we can only manage by tag wise or any custom option we can give in editor where from you can enable and it will display in all product and disable to hide at once. but for all need custom code we can just give idea.
